Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide are Your New Cleaning Friends

Hello Everyone,

I want to share with you the great ideas that I got from the television show I saw today called, “Deals.” Buying household cleaners from the store can get expensive as well as build clutter of specialized sprayers. The better alternative is to make it yourself! Here are a few ways to clean your house naturally and economically. I cannot wait to try them myself as I came home from spending the holidays with my parents and discovered a giant tea stain on the carpet. You will realize that vinegar and hydrogen peroxide are going to be your best friends this new year as they are not toxic to use, and will save you money!

Carpet Stains: For a darker stain or for a stain that has been sitting there for while, do not lose hope and view it as a house battle scar, but you can use hydrogen peroxide. For a lighter stain or something like white wine, use vinegar.
Red Wine Stains: Had too much fun for New Years and dropped wine on the floor? You can use 1/4 cup of  hydrogen peroxide and a cup of water to dampen. Let it soak for 2 minutes, and then, blot the stain, and after a few minutes, it should come right off!
Coffee Pot Cleaner: Your coffee pot also needs to look more energized and awake after working hard providing you with coffee! Simply mix 1/4 cut vinegar and 3 cups of hot water. Combine the ingredients in the coffee pot and Let it sit for 15 minutes. Use a small brush to scrub away the stains. It should come off very easily!

Window Cleaner: My favorite! Mix 1 cup water, 1 cup vinegar and spray your heart out!

Antibacterial Kitchen Soap (to clean things like cutting boards): 1 tablespoon dish soap, 1 teaspoon vinegar. Scrub on warm running water and it should sanitize your cutting board.

  1. Great post! I used to use peroxide all the time when I was nursing as it gets blood out in a flash (and it’s fun to watch it bubble) I like to use peroxide in the wash instead of bleach as chlorine bleach is harmful to you and your washer.

Make sure your dish soap does not contain triclosan…and antibacterial that is being investigated by the US EPA as a possible cancer causing agent. Tea tree oil works great as an antiseptic and you can find it in most pharmacies. great on cuts and scrapes too

    Thanks for the info!

    • I am amazed at how great vinegar is and its multipurpose properties. You can even drink a apple cider vinegar to clean you inside! You can rince your hair with vinegar to clarify it once a week. However, with drinking, I think I should dilute it. I tried to drink 2tbsp straight, and it made me cough. I had to spit it out.

  2. To clean a glass stove top try using lemon juice and baking soda make a paste and use a little elbow grease and you will be amazed with how clean your stove comes out you might want to try a razor blade first for heavy residue and then the paste but remember to always let the stove top cool down all the way before cleaning good luck
